Brief Description:  Prop installation and upper cowling fitting

The cowling that I ordered from James Aircraft arrived today. So I began the day by installing the propeller as the cowling has to be positioned in relation to the firewall and propeller. Next I reinstalled the engine side and aft baffles to see where they may need trimming once the cowling is fitted. Then I marked a reference line two inches back from the firewall flange so I have a reference for trimming the aft edge of the upper cowling. I also taped two 1/4 inch thick spacers to the front of the upper cowling to provide the correct propeller spinner to cowling clearance. I also positioned a block on the propeller hub to rest the front of the cowling on for vertical positioning of the cowling in relation to the propeller spinner. Following this the cowling went on and off several times as I checked and trimmed the engine bafffles to see where there was baffle to cowling interference. When the baffles were finally trimmed low enough everywhere I marked and trimmed the aft edge of the cowling. The cowling went on and off several more times as I fine tuned the fit at the firewall.
